Baseball & HS Graduations Means Heavy Traffic on A&M’s West Campus

Athletics and academics collide Friday night and Saturday on the west campus of Texas A&M University.

While the Aggies baseball team host a NCAA regional, high school commencement ceremonies will be held at Reed Arena.

Texas A&M Transportation Services says motorists are encouraged to allow for extra travel time and to plan their parking location in advance. Only baseball fans should utilize Olsen Blvd.

The normal Texas A&M baseball parking plan will be in effect. University officials are encouraging baseball patrons without a reserved parking permit to utilize the lots on the south side of Reed Arena: 100E, 100F, and 100G. The cost will be $5.

Graduation attendees are encouraged to park at no charge on the north side of Reed Arena in lots 100A, 100B , and 100C, and across Kimbrough Blvd. in lots 61, 74, and 97.

Alternate routes to Reed Arena for those attending graduations (avoiding Olsen Blvd.) include Discovery Drive, Kimbrough Blvd., and Tom Chandler Drive.

College Station ISD spokesman Chuck Glenewinkel says A&M Consolidated’s graduation program begins Friday night at 7 p.m., 25 minutes after the scheduled first pitch of the A&M-Dayton baseball game.

Bryan ISD spokeswoman Sandy Farris says the Bryan High commencement starts Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and the first ever Rudder High commencement at Reed is Saturday evening at 8 p.m. In-between, Reed is hosting commencement for Tomball, Magnolia, and Magnolia West high schools.
