BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –Texas A&M women’s basketball’s Janiah Barker and Aicha Coulibaly earned preseason All-SEC honors in a vote by the league coaches the conference announced Tuesday.

Barker was selected to the Coaches Preseason All-SEC First Team, while Coulibaly was recognized on the second team. This marks the first time that the program had two players voted to the Coaches Preseason All-SEC Teams since prior to the 2021-22 campaign when Kayla Wells and Jordan Nixon earned the honors.

Barker was the youngest player and lone sophomore to be selected to the Coaches Preseason All-SEC First Team. The Marietta, Georgia, native led the Aggies in scoring (12.7) during her freshman campaign and earned a spot on the 2023 All-SEC Freshman Team. Barker’s preseason also saw her be named to the Katrina McClain Award Watchlist, which honors the best power forward in the country.

Coulibaly is entering her first season with the Aggies after transferring from Auburn where she was named to the All-SEC Second Team two-consecutive years (2022, 2023). She led Auburn in scoring (16.2), rebounding (7.0) and steals (2.2) during that span. The SEC veteran was also named to the Media Preseason All-SEC Second Team and found her name on the Cheryl Miller Award Watchlist among some of the nation’s best small forwards.

Texas A&M was predicted to finish sixth in the SEC standings by the league coaches, up two spots from the media poll. The Aggies open the season on Nov. 9 inside Reed Arena versus A&M-Corpus Christi. For the full schedule, visit 12thman.com.
