A Bryan man remains in jail following his arrest for swinging an ax at his wife and two daughters then setting fire to the front door of their home.

This was a block north of Sue Haswell Park about 3 a.m. Saturday at 23rd and Academy.

47 year old Roy Acosta was arrested after being found walking about a half mile away at 24th and Robertson.

According to the arrest report, Acosta admitted to starting the fire using gasoline from his backyard shed. Fire damage was limited to the door.

The wife and one of the daughters were able to take away the ax before anyone was hurt. A t-v tray was split in half.

Officers were told a family disturbance started the event, which resulted in no injuries.

Acosta was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, arson, and public intoxication.
