Arson Arrest & Grass Fires on Monday

A Bryan man is jailed in lieu of $200,000 bond after his arrest Monday for setting fire to a home last week. 46 year old Patrick Pitzer was taken into custody during a joint operation. Fire Marshal William Bouse says the police department’s SWAT team assisted fire investigators. Bouse says a vacant home at 1101 East 25th Street, which appeared to be in the process of being remodeled, sustained significant damage from the May 1st fire.

Monday afternoon and evening, a couple of grass fires in northeast Bryan kept firefighters and the Texas Forest Service busy. According the the Bryan Fire Department’s Facebook page, a total of 100 acres were burned. One fire started near the intersection of Standing Rock and Wellhead Lane and crossed Alexander Road. The second fire closed Dilly Shaw Tap Road, Marino Road, and FM 2276 and threatened the Lilly Dairy.
