Local law enforcement announces the arrival of an armored rescue vehicle.

It will be used by SWAT and tactical response teams during threatening situations that includes active shooters, hostage negotiations, and when officers are serving warrants in high risk situations.

The vehicle will also be deployed after natural disasters and can be used during search and rescue missions.

The undisclosed cost of the vehicle was shared by College Station, Bryan, and Texas A&M police and the Brazos County sheriff’s office.

The unmarked vehicle is stationed at the College Station police department.

The cities, county, and the university entered an interlocal agreement in 2023 where each party paid 25 percent of the purchase price and will split the maintenance costs four ways.
