Multiple reports from passing motorists Thursday night of a dually truck hitting a highway sign on Harvey Mitchell Parkway near Wellborn Road led to College Station police arresting the driver on two charges. 42 year old Matthew Hamilton of College Station is accused of stealing the truck from the west Texas town of Pecos, which is nearly five hundred miles away, and drunk driving with three or more prior convictions. According to the arrest report, the woman on the scooter told Bryan police Cassidy did it twice; first in the area of 29th and Rosemary then 45 minutes later at Rosemary and Texas…where the woman said Cassidy blew a kiss at her and laughed. The other incident, involving the mother and daughter, was also at Rosemary and Texas. Police found and arrested Cassidy at Texas and College View.
News release from College Station police updating vehicle burglaries and charges of organized criminal activity:
On May 20, 2015, as part of an on-going investigation into burglary activity in the local area, officers with the College Station Police Department Community Enhancement Unit (CEU) and Uniformed Patrol were checking several locations in Brazos County attempting to locate a fugitive wanted on numerous felony warrants identified as Tyler Scott Sanchez.
At approximately 1030 AM, Deputies with Brazos County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office located Sanchez in a vehicle at a residence in the 21000 blk of FM 159 in south Brazos County and were able to take him into custody for those warrants charging Sanchez with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Evading Arrest or Detention (Felony). At that time Sanchez was also found in possession of methamphetamine and was subsequently charged with the outstanding warrants and the new charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
As part of the continuing investigation, information was developed linking Sanchez to recent burglaries in the local area. Detectives with the College Station Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) secured a warrant to search Sanchez’s residence. During the execution of that warrant property from dozens of recent burglaries throughout the Brazos Valley was recovered.
Two additional suspects were linked to the property and College Station Detectives were able to obtain a warrant for their arrest charging them with a vehicle burglary that had been reported on May 16, 2015 in the 4900 blk of Augusta Circle in College Station. These individuals were identified as Kenneth David Greer and Shawn Allen Greer.
Through continued investigation and with assistance from the Navasota Police Department the College Station Detectives were able to determine that Tyler Sanchez, Kenneth Greer, Shawn Greer and a 16 year old female conspired to commit several vehicle burglaries and share the profits from the crimes. The group sold stolen property at various pawn shops in Brazos and Grimes County and shared the profits from these crimes, which met the requirements to charge the group with Organized Criminal Activity.
Currently, the College Station Criminal Investigations Division has been able to link property recovered from the original search warrant to 27 separate burglaries spanning from April 30, 2015 to May 20, 2015. In addition, property has been linked to six burglaries in Grimes County and six more in the city of Austin. The Navasota Police Department expects to file charges in the near future.
Investigation into this incident continues and additional arrests and charges are possible after consultation with local prosecutors.
