A man who used to live in Bryan was booked at the Brazos County jail Monday (May 12) on a charge of threatening to kill a Texas A&M employee at least 23 times. The arrest report from university police says that’s how many threats took place between April 17th and 19th, with many more dating back to last November. The threats, through Facebook posts and e-mails, began after 54 year old Jason Bewley was released from probation after a federal conviction for threatening A&M staff, local law enforcement, and KBTX television. As of May 14, Bewley remained jailed in lieu of a $30,000 dollar bond following his arrest on a stalking charge.
A Bryan police officer seeing a car at 1:30 in the morning on Tuesday (May 13) with a broken taillight then running two stop signs led to a traffic stop that resulted in the driver doing to jail on ten arrest warrants. Jail records show five of the warrants are on charges of violating probation from prior convictions for mail theft, evading and resisting arrest, and drug possession. And during the traffic stop, 22 year old Ta’Mya Cooper of Bryan is accused of giving a fake first name and date of birth. As of May 14, Cooper remains jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $144,000 dollars.
