A&M, UT Launch Cancer Partnership

HOUSTON (AP) _ The University of Texas and Texas A&M have joined together to accelerate the process of getting new cancer-fighting drugs to patients.

The two school systems announced Wednesday in Houston that their partnership will include helping design the National Center for Therapeutic Manufacturing, now under construction at Texas A&M’s campus in College Station.

The University of Texas researchers and doctors will come from the system’s MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Gov. Rick Perry was present for the announcement. He described “the war against cancer” as “one of the defining conflicts of our time.” The governor says the “combined efforts of these two technology super-powers bode well for the future of medicine in Texas.”
