There are seven companies interested in building the new Kyle Field.
A news release from A&M System Chancellor John Sharp states a world-class group responded to the request for proposals that were opened Friday.
The winner is scheduled to be selected by end of January.
And Sharp says a final recommendation for what is being called the redevelopment of Kyle Field will go to the Board of Regents next spring.
According to the RFP, the list of seven will be reduced to a short list of potential candidates December 13, conducting interviews December 19, then announcing the winner January 11.
No starting date was listed, but requirements include allowing regular season games to be played in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

John Sharp, chancellor of The Texas A&M University System, announced today that seven proposals have been submitted in response to the “Kyle Field Stadium Redevelopment Project” Request for Proposals issued earlier this month.
“We are very pleased with the interest and experience of the firms that have submitted responses. It is a world-class group,” said Sharp.
The event today at the A&M System Offices is the standard procedure required per Texas Education Code, Section 51.782, which requires the A&M System to “receive, publically open and read aloud the names of the offerors…[and] also read aloud the fees and prices, if any, stated in each proposal as the proposal is opened.”
The redevelopment process for Kyle Field began with the selection of Populous as the architect of record following their initial work for the 12th Man Foundation. In order to allow further development of a plan for presentation to the Texas A&M System Board of Regents, this RFP will be awarded by the end of January 2013.
Sharp confirmed that a recommendation to the Board of Regents for the redevelopment of Kyle Field should occur in the spring of 2013. “These steps are being taken so that should the Board of Regents decide to move forward with the project, we will be ready,” he said.
