This week’s Texas A&M University System Board of Regents meeting includes taking the next step towards more than $100 million dollars of projects in the new bio-corridor.
The Regents have been asked to move up to this fiscal year, the planning of a $78 million dollar pandemic influenza building. $7.5 million would go towards pre-construction services subject to securing $40 million in state funding. The rest of the money comes from a federal grant.

Farther along is a $30 million dollar upgrade of the nearby National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing. Regents have been asked to proceed with a construction schedule that would start next May and take until July of 2014 to complete. 70 percent of the project cost would be covered by a federal grant. More than half of the expense, $18 million, goes to buying equipment. Another $6 million is budgeted for construction, while more than $4.5 million is set aside for quality assurance.
