A&M President E-Mail on Hiring Practices

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) _ A Texas A&M review will target hiring practices following an administrator’s resignation after he allegedly padded his resume.

President R. Bowen Loftin, in an campus-wide e-mail, said A&M requires that faculty have universities, from which they graduated, transmit their certified transcripts. Loftin says administrators must be held “to the same level of accountability.”

The review, announced Wednesday, will be done by the A&M System’s internal auditor.

Alexander Kemos, who was hired in 2009 and on his resume claimed to be an ex-Navy SEAL with advanced degrees from Tufts University, resigned June 18.

Records from Tufts indicate Kemos was enrolled in, but never completed, its master’s and doctoral programs. The Navy had no record of Kemos in SEAL training.
