Despite wildfires and continuing drought conditions, mock military exercises are taking place Monday on the campus of Texas A&M University.
The first round is scheduled at 2 p.m. and the second at 6 p.m. Both involve exploding blank ammunition and pyrotechnics.
The Corps of Cadets Rudder’s Rangers unit along with the Texas and Army National Guards are participating.
The training and demonstration exercise will be held in the Corps of Cadets area, specifically in the vicinity of Dorms 3, 5, and 7.
The Corps of Cadets is coordinating the event with the University Police Department to set up a boundary around area as an added safety measure.
