This Thursday morning, officials from Texas A&M University and the university systems will be in Fort Worth to make the formal announcement of the purchase of the law school at Texas Wesleyan.
During last Thursday’s board of regents meeting, Chancellor John Sharp thanked President Bowen Loftin for how he handled negotiations.
Loftin was credited for reaching a final agreement where A&M owns the campus instead of a 40 year lease and putting A&M in the name instead of Texas Wesleyan.
The transaction, which was announced in June 2012, was closed Monday after the American Bar Association gave its blessing. No purchase price was announced.
A&M has pursued adding a law school for more than 40 years. Texas Wesleyan was founded in 1890 and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
