A&M Baseball’s Montgomery Named SEC Player of the Week

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BIRMINGHAM – After helping power the Texas A&M baseball team to a sweep of No. 21 Auburn, outfielder Braden Montgomery has been named the SEC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.

This marks the second straight week an Aggie has earned a weekly honor after Justin Lamkin garnered SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 25. This is the first SEC weekly honor of Montgomery’s career.

In the series sweep of the Tigers, Montgomery went 7-for-14 at the plate, belted a league-best four home runs, recorded two three-hit games and totaled seven RBI. The junior also scored a league-high eight runs, doubled twice and drew a pair of walks. In Friday’s series clinching win, Montgomery logged his second multi-homer game in the Maroon & White.

In Tuesday’s midweek win over Houston Christian, the junior plated a run and walked twice.

Entering the week, Montgomery leads the nation with 47 RBI and sits second in home runs with 16. The junior also ranks third nationally in total bases (98), third in RBI per game (1.68), fourth in home runs per game (0.57) and fifth in slugging percentage (0.933).

Montgomery and the Aggies are back in action tomorrow night at 6 p.m. for a midweek contest at Texas State.
