FORT WORTH – Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery was selected 12th overall in the 2024 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox Sunday evening from Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.

With the selection, Montgomery becomes the 14th first round pick in program history and the first since Asa Lacy in 2020. The switch-hitter is also the seventh Aggie to be selected by the Red Sox and the first since Stanley Tucker in 2023.

In his lone season with the Maroon & White, Montgomery was named a unanimous All-American after slashing .322/.454/.733 in 61 games. The junior belted 27 homers, the third-most in school annals, and drove in an SEC-best 85 RBI. Montgomery also registered a triple, doubled 14 times, drew 53 walks and scored 65 runs.

A First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team selection, Montgomery totaled 25 multi-hit contests and a team-high 25 multi-RBI performances.
