Ags to host Arizona, Wright State, Seton Hall; no go on top 8 seed

The Big 12 Tournament Champion Aggie baseball team was not chosen as one of the top eight seeds in the NCAA baseball tournament, meaning that if A&M wins their NCAA Regional at Olsen Field and Florida State wins their regional at Tallahassee, the best-of-three super regional would be played at Florida State. That was disappointing news for the Aggie team that coupled a Big 12 regular-season co-championship with the tournament championship yesterday in Oklahoma City.

The Olsen Field Regional will bring Arizona, Seton Hall and Wright State to town starting Friday afternoon for the double elimination tournament. A&M will meet Wright State first at 6:35 Friday night. Arizona and Seton Hall play the first game at 12:35. There will be games at the same times Saturday and Sunday and at 6:35 Monday night if needed.

The only chance the Aggies have to host a Super regional is if Florida State does not win its regional which includes Bethune-Cookman, Alabama and Central Florida. The eight top seeds were 1. Virginia; 2. Florida; 3. North Carolina; 4. South Carolina; 5. Florida State; 6. Vanderbilt; 7. Texas; 8. Rice. Texas will host Princeton, Kent State, and Texas State and if they win will host the winner of the Arizona State regional that includes New Mexico, Charlotte and Arkansas. Also in the state, Rice will host Alcorn State, Cal and Baylor. TCU will host Oral Roberts, Dallas Baptist and Oklahoma. Also making the field of 64 from the Big 12 were Kansas State, sent to the Cal-Fullerton Regional, and Oklahoma State, sent to the Vanderbilt Regional.
