Aggies Remain Fourth at Alamo Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M women’s golf team maintained fourth place in the standings following day two of the Alamo Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Course, hosted by UTSA.

Seniors Janell Lysack (76-69) and Katerina Ruzickova (71-70) each recorded subpar rounds Monday, at three-under and two-under, respectively. Ruzickova currently sits at three-under for the tournament with a share of 10th place. Lysack rebounded from a tough first day to move up 36 places on the leaderboard into a tie for 27th.

“Janell did not really do anything different today from yesterday, but she had several putts fall for her which lead to the great round,” Texas A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. “Looking back at her round she only hit one more green today than yesterday. What really separated Janell from the pack was the great mindset she came to the course with.”

Completing the maroon and white lineup were seniors Natalie Reeves (70-74, t20th) and Chelsea Mocio (72-73, t26th) along with freshman Andrea Jonama (68-81, t54th). Competing as an individual, Alex Neal (73-82) is currently tied for 74th.

“These last two days were a true display of team golf,” McCombs said. “I expect this group to come out Tuesday morning with a bang. They have a great mindset for the round and know what they need to accomplish.”

First round leader Oklahoma (279-283) fell back into a tie for second place with LSU (285-279), as both schools trail Arkansas (279-283) by two strokes. Filling out the top 10 are A&M (281-286), UTSA (285-286), Florida (280-292), TCU (289-285), SMU (287-291), Tulane (290-291) and Texas State (292-292). Completing the leaderboard are Louisville (290-296), Florida State (289-301), Baylor (297-295), Tennessee (290-304) and Texas (295-304).

The third and final round of the Alamo Invitational will tee off at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning with a shotgun start. The Aggies will be paired with golfers from UTSA and Florida and start at hole 5.
