Aggies Led by Three Double-Doubles in 72-63 Victory Over Georgia Tech

The Texas A&M women’s basketball team earned a point for the league in the ACC-SEC Challenge by defeating Georgia Tech, 72-63, Wednesday inside Reed Arena.
The Aggies (6-1) had three players log double-doubles in a game for the first time since Feb. 23, 2023. Ny’Ceara Pryor led the way with 17 points and 10 assists. It marked her second game this season with double digits in assists, and she also recorded three steals. Lauren Ware recorded 14 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. After being held scoreless with one rebound in the first half due to foul trouble, Fatmata Janneh found her touch in the second half notching 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Aggies had five players score in double-digits for the first time this season. Janae Kent and Lemyah Hylton chipped in 10 points apiece.
The Maroon & White played tremendous defense holding an 11-4 edge in steals and recording a season-high eight blocked shots.
Despite being ahead in most of the first quarter the Aggies trailed 16-14 heading into the break. Hylton and Kent paced the team with five points each.
Georgia Tech extended its lead to six with 3:36 left in the second quarter. The Maroon & White were able to claw their way back and a late bucket by Ware cut the deficit to one entering half, 31-30.  Ware ended the half with six points, six rebounds and three assists.
Defense got the Aggies back in the game in the third quarter forcing the Yellow Jackets to miss 11 straight field goals over a four-minute span to take back the advantage 45-40.  The Aggies outscored Georgia Tech, 17-6, in the final eight-minutes to take a 54-46 lead into the fourth period. Playing the entire quarter, Janneh and Pryor both led the charge recording seven points.
Georgia Tech came within one possession just once in the final quarter, at the 7:14 mark to make it 57-54. Despite not making a field goal in the final four minutes, the Aggies were able to make seven free throws to keep the Yellow Jackets at bay.
Texas A&M returns to the court Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. inside Reed Arena to face off against No. 25 West Virgina (6-2).
