Aggies Going Strong at Paris Olympics

Women’s Basketball
Joni Taylor and the Women’s National Team dominated in their first Olympic action versus Japan, winning by a score of 102-76 to open the group phase. The Americans shot 54.5% from the field and dominated the boards by a margin of 56-27. They also asserted their dominance down low with 11 blocks, while surrendering zero blocked shots to Japan. Team USA extended its winning streak to 56 games at the Olympics and will take on Belgium on Thursday at 2 p.m. CT.

Men’s Tennis
Austin Krajicek and partner Rajeev Ram of Team USA dominated their first round matchup against the Australian pairing of Alexei Popyrin and Alex de Minaur (6-2, 6-3). The first set took just 29 minutes for the Americans to capture, but in the second the set was all knotted up at 3 games apiece. The Aussies had the serve and two opportunities to go ahead in the set, but the veteran duo outlasted their opposition and claimed the next three games to win the match.

Swimming
France’s Beryl Gastaldello advanced to the final in the 100m back. After a top-six finish in prelims, Gastaldello went 59.29 in the semifinal to place seventh and earn a spot in tomorrow’s final.
