Halloween Night Police Activity Includes Breaking Up A Large Party, Reckless Driving Resulting In A Pickup Fire, And An Arrest For DWI And Child Endangerment

College Station police break up a party on Halloween night in the Southside neighborhood south of the Texas A&M campus that was attended by an estimated 400 to 500 people. The party is also on the radar of Aggie Athletics. That’s because it was held at the home of baseball players Hayden Schott and Jace Laviolette. An athletics spokesman tells WTAW News that they are cooperating with CSPD’s investigation, and the baseball team was not a sponsor of any event that took place on Halloween. Police issued tickets to Schott and Laviolette for undisclosed offenses related to a loud party. A bartender went to jail on a misdemeanor charge of furnishing alcohol to minors. Around 2:30 Friday morning (November 1), a College Station police officer on patrol in the Barracks subdivision sees people still celebrating Halloween. During that time, the officer hears screeching tires coming from a vehicle with a diesel engine. The CSPD arrest report says the officer stops the truck which was doing a burnout, he asks the driver to get out, then the officer sees fire coming out of the engine bay. Three passengers then got out of the truck. The driver, a 21 year old from League City, went to jail on a charge of reckless driving. Bryan police make a drunk driving arrest Halloween night where the driver’s breath alcohol level was more than three and a half times the legal limit. The BPD arrest report says the breath tests were .295 and .296. 30 year old Latisha Narvell of Bryan was also driving with two children who were not in car seats. One of the children told an officer that they were almost involved in four crashes. Narvell was also charged with two counts of child endangerment. BPD provided car seats to the children’s grandparents, who took custody when Narvell went to jail. She remains held as of November 1 in lieu of bonds totaling $15,000 dollars.

Blinn College Completes Purchase Of Land For Its New Campus Near Waller

Blinn College announces finalizing the purchase of land for its new campus in Waller County. Through an open records request, the purchase price for one hundred acres is just over $19.5 million dollars. The funding source is unrestricted cash. The property is located north of Highway 290 at FM 2920 and Binford Road. No timeline has been announced to complete a programming and facilities plan, which will lead to designing Blinn’s sixth campus. A Blinn news release says the Waller County location will offer academic and workforce training programs. Some classes are currently being offered at Waller ISD’s junior high school. News release from Blinn College: The Blinn College District has finalized the purchase of a 100-acre site at 29638 FM 2920 in Waller that will serve as the College’s sixth campus. The site will be home to a comprehensive commuter campus offering both academic and workforce training programs. The next step in the development process is to create a programming and facilities plan to ensure the campus meets the needs of students and the community. “Today’s announcement marks a historic moment for the Blinn College District and for the Waller-Harris County community,” said Dr. Mary Hensley, Chancellor of the Blinn College District. “We are excited about the opportunities this new location will provide, offering programs that will inspire, empower, and equip our students for success. Our future is brighter than ever, and we are eager to begin this next phase of growth with the support of our students, faculty, and local partners.” The Waller/Harris County location joins Blinn’s Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy campuses. With the expansion of a new campus, Blinn will bring its renowned academic reputation to the Waller-Harris County community.
