Aggie Women’s Tennis Takes Down Alabama

News release from Texas A&M Athletics: 

The No. 8 Texas A&M women’s tennis team took down Alabama, 4-1, Saturday morning at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

With the victory, the Aggies extended their home winning streak to 78 matches. The Maroon & White have now won five straight meetings against the Crimson Tide.

Singles play opened the match as Texas A&M (13-2, 5-0) and Alabama (10-3, 2-3) squared off across six courts. No. 60 Ilinca Amariei put the Maroon & White on the board first, defeating Klara Milicevic, 6-4, 6-1. Lexington Reed followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Maria Andrienko on court 3 to extend A&M’s lead. No. 5 Lucciana Perez quickly added another point for the Aggies on court 1, defeating No. 62 Kristina Paskauskas, 6-0, 6-3, to push the advantage further.

After jumping out to a 3-0 start, the Crimson Tide grabbed their only point of the day on court 4, where Karla Bartel earned a win over No. 86 Violeta Martinez, 6-3, 7-6(4). The Maroon & White secured their final point on court 5, where Daria Smetannikov bested Addison Bowman, 7-6(5), 6-2, to clinch the match.
