Aggie Women’s Tennis Meaux Down LSU

News release from Texas A&M Athletics: 

The No. 3 Texas A&M women’s tennis team claimed a 4-1 victory over the No. 10 LSU Tigers in Sunday’s SEC bout.

With their win at the LSU Tennis Complex, the Aggies surged to 18-3 overall and 10-1 in the SEC. The Maroon & White remained in a tie with Auburn atop the SEC standings.

No. 2 Lucciana Perez clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over No. 58 Cadence Brace on court 1. She improved to 19-0 singles play in 2026. She stretched her school record for consecutive SEC regular-season victories to 30.

The contest started with an intense battle in doubles action. The LSU pair of Brace/Kayla Cross topped No. 8 Mia Kupres/Perez on court 1, 6-3. The Aggies evened the doubles play with Lexington Reed/Daria Smetannikov recording a 6-4 triumph over Addison Lanton/Alexia Marginean on court 3. The decisive match on court 2 went to a tiebreaker where the Maroon & White wrestled away the doubles point. No. 75 Ilinca Amariei/Violeta Martinez fought for a 7-6(4) win over Kenna Erickson/Carolina Kuhl.

The Aggies nosed ahead, 2-0, with Smetannikov registering breadsticks on court 6 with a 6-1, 6-1 result against Marginean.

LSU penciled in its lone point of the match with Lanton topping No. 54 Amariei, 6-3, 6-2 on court 3.

Reed put the Aggies one point from victory with her 7-5, 6-1 win over Kuhl on court 4. She improved to 14-4 on the season, including 8-2 in SEC action.

As the match ended, No. 96 Martinez had the upper hand on Erickson on court 5, 6-4, 5-4. LSU’s Cross had the advantage over Kupres on court 2, 2-6, 6-0, 3-0.
