The Texas A&M track & field team continues its road stint as it travels to the Battle on the Bayou at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium, April 3-4.
The last time the Aggies competed at the home of the Bayou Bengals they brought home six event titles, six all-time marks and 12 personal-bests. The Maroon & white return five of the six winners including Jaiya Covington (100m hurdles), Ja’Qualon Scott (110m hurdles), Khybah Dawson (long jump), Aleksandr Solovev (pole vault), as well as both Camryn Dickson and Jasmine Montgomery from the 4x100m team.
Last Time Out
The Aggies had a successful weekend at the Raleigh Relays, highlighted by SEC Freshman of the Week, Michael Moiben, who shattered the 10,000m school record. The freshman downed the 41-year-old record with a mark of 28:28.90 previously held by Texas A&M Hall of Fame member Arturo Barrios.
The Maroon & White also saw action in the 3,000m steeplechase as Debora Cherono captured her first win of the season in the steeple and third title of her career with a time of 9:56.45 which ranks No. 1 in the country. The Texas A&M record book had another two alterations over the weekend, as Megan Roberts climbed the all-time list to No. 2 with personal-best time of 32:57.74 and Youssef Asslouj ran an all-time mark of 3:44.11 in the 1,500m to now rank at No. 9.
The Field
The Aggies are set to compete against a field of 16 which includes Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, LSU, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Dakota State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, UCLA, USC, SELA and William Carey.
