BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men’s and women’s track & field teams dominated the Aggie Invitational to wrap up its regular season Saturday night at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
Battling windy conditions, the Aggies swept event titles in the 200m, 400m and high jump, in total the Maroon & White won eight races and six field events. Immanuela Aliu won the women’s 200m at 23.38 (w/5.4), while Lance Broome won the men’s race at 20.32 (w/5.2). Devin Dixon crossed the finish line first in the men’s 400m at 46.28, his second fastest 400m time this season, while Jaevin Reed ran 54.84 to win the women’s side.
Carter Bajoit cleared three bars on three attempts to win the men’s high jump with a clean slate. Bajoit jumped 6-8 (2.03m), 6-9.75 (2.08m) and 6-11.75 (2.13m) on first attempts, before calling it a day. Tyra Gittens followed suit in the women’s high jump clearing heights at 5-9.25 (1.76m) and 6-0.5 (1.84m).
Connor Schulman claimed the men’s 110m hurdles title at a wind-aided time of 13.83 (w/5.1), while Kaylah Robinson and Summer Thorpe each impressed in the women’s 100m hurdles. Robinson finished second at 13.05 (w/3.4) and Thorpe placed third at 13.15 (w/3.4), both were season best times.
Aggie sprinters Ryan Martin (10.14 w/4.9), Devon Achane (10.14 w/4.9) and Emmanuel Yeboah (10.18 w/4.9) each clocked sub 10.2 in the 100m, just an hour after the trio and Broome combined to win the 4x100m relay at a facility record of 39.23.
Alessio Pirruccio (hammer) and Josh Brown (discus) highlighted the long throws claiming victories in their respective events. Pirruccio recorded his series best mark at 183-6 (55.93m), just short of his personal best of 185-8 (56.60m). Brown’s second round attempt of 178-6 (54.42m) in the discus held up to be his series best mark.
Jean Jenkins and Annie Fuller each won their mid-distance races, Jenkins clocked 2:13.79 in the 800m and Fuller ran 4:31.92 in the 1,500m.
Horizontal jumper Ciynamon Stevenson won the triple jump at 43-3.75 (13.20m).
Prior to tonight’s running events, Texas A&M honored its 23 seniors including Rachel Bernardo, Jon Bishop, LaJarvia Brown, Josh Brown, Jace Comick, Bryce Deadmon, Devin Dixon, Jenna Ellis, KJ Grimes, Michala Janssen, Jean Jenkins, Lagarious McQuirter, Taryn Milton, Madeline O’Hanlon, Carlton Orange, William Petersson, Zephyr Seagraves, Hannah Searby, Ciynamon Stevenson, DeWitt Thomas, Summer Thorpe, Austin Warren and Colby Zamzow.

“It was a bounce back after having last weekend canceled. We ran the athletes that we thought was appropriate to run on this day in specific events and we didn’t run everybody of course. We ran certain people that ran in events that won’t affect what they do next week at the SEC Championships. We learned a lot about some people today, there were some breakthroughs. The wind was an asset on the straight-a-ways and terrible for anyone running the turn. That’s track and that’s the way it is, next week if you were to have a wind like this, times and distances make no difference because it’s about who wins. We did a lot of things today and we made up some ground on some lost opportunities.”
