The No. 15 Texas A&M softball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Texas State, after a 15-2 run-rule victory over Tarleton State Friday at the San Marcos Showdown.
After two scoreless innings, Texas A&M (17-8) broke the stalemate when senior transfer Tallen Edwards hit a solo dinger to right field for a 1-0 lead.
Texas State (15-8) answered back in the fourth inning with a two-RBI double to center field, before adding another in the fifth as the Aggies trailed 3-1.
The Maroon & White threatened in the top of the sixth when Micaela Wark walked and advanced to third after a double by Ariel Kowalewski. The Bobcats escaped the jam with a fielder’s choice and a strikeout, stranding a pair of Aggies in scoring position.
Texas A&M was unable to capitalize against the Bobcats leaving nine runners stranded going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position to drop game two of the San Marcos Showdown.
Sidne Peters was saddled with the loss going 4.0 innings with six punchouts, while allowing three runs on five hits.

Texas A&M will begin SEC play against LSU at Tiger Park beginning March 14-16. Saturday’s first pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
