The No. 15 Texas A&M softball team faces No. 1 Texas beginning Friday at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+ at McCombs Field. It marks the first softball matchup in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown since Texas joined the league in 2024.
Action continues Saturday on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. before closing out Sunday on ESPN at 1 p.m., with Matt Schumacker (play-by-play) and Texas A&M Hall of Famer Amanda Scarborough (analyst) on the call. Fans can also listen on the 12th Man Mobile app or locally on Willy 1550 AM, where Matt Simon begins his 12th season as the voice of Texas A&M softball.
TEXAS SERIES
Texas A&M (22-9, 5-1 SEC) and Texas (29-1, 6-0 SEC) have split their previous four meetings. In last season’s clash, the Aggies rolled to a 14-2 victory in five innings to advance to the SEC Tournament Championship in Athens, Georgia. The first six Texas A&M batters reached safely, and the six runs the Aggies plated in the first inning were the most by any team in SEC Tournament history. KK Dement homered twice and matched her career-high with five RBI. Texas A&M is 8-14 all-time in Austin and last won there in 2024, taking game one of the NCAA Super-Regional, 6-5. Kennedy Powell went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Mya Perez started at designated player and went 1-for-2 with a walk.
