The Texas A&M soccer team overwhelmed the SFA Ladyjacks in Sunday’s 4-0 victory at Ellis Field.
For the match, the Aggies (4-3-0) had a 33-2 edge in shots with 13 coming on frame. They also had the advantage in corners, 6-1. Finley Lacher and Trinity Buchanan both tallied three points with one goal and assist.
The Maroon & White struck first when Lacher delivered a corner into the box, where Bella Carapazza rose to meet it and headed the ball into the back of the net.
The Aggies controlled the opening half and carried a 1-0 advantage into the break, dominating the shot category, 15-0. SFA (1-6-0) goalkeeper Brandie Musser kept the Ladyjacks within striking distance, making five saves to keep the deficit at one.
Texas A&M doubled its advantage when Ireland Churchill reacted quickly to a deflected pass from Lacher inside the 18-yard box, placing her strike past the SFA keeper. The Maroon & White continued its dominance, with Lacher finding the back of the net off an assist from Brynja Ran Knudsen.
Makenna August and Adelaide Paredes had little to do in goal, thanks largely to the back line in front of them. The Aggie defense allowed just two shots over the course of the match, marking its strongest defensive performance of the season. SFA was unable to put a shot on goal until the 84th minute.
Three freshmen also earned starting spots along the back line for the Maroon & White, including Juliet Haras, Blake Hughes and Ava Sexton.

64’ | Buchanan joined the party with a stunning free kick from just outside the 18-yard box that rattled off the crossbar and into the back of the net. A&M 4, SFA 0
