News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

The Texas A&M men’s tennis team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championships at the Mitchell Tennis Center Friday and Saturday (May 1-2), the NCAA announced Monday.

The 11-seeded Aggies welcome Wagner for their first-round matchup, as well as Penn and Stanford. Texas A&M begins tournament action at 1 p.m. Friday, May 1 at the Mitchell Tennis Center, while the Quakers and Cardinal play at 10 a.m. The first-round winners continue play at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Aggies have made the NCAA Tournament every year since 1994.

“We have an experienced team that is excited to be home these first two rounds in the tournament,” head coach Steve Denton said. “We just had the SEC Tournament here two weeks ago, so we are already in tournament mode, and I expect that we’re going to play well this week.”

The Aggies posted a 19-9 record through the SEC Tournament, and tied for third in the SEC, going 10-4 across conference action. The Maroon & White made a semifinal run in the conference tournament, defeating Vanderbilt and Oklahoma before falling to Texas.

Four players earned SEC recognitions, including Theo Papamalamis, Kholo Montsi and Togan Tokac who were all named to the First Team All-SEC team. Markus Molder earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team. Papamalamis and Tokac make up the No. 2 doubles duo in the country, logging a 10-7 dual record with eight ranked wins. Papamalamis is also the No. 11 ranked singles player in the ITA rankings, earning a 14-8 dual record at the top line. Montsi has also earned a SEC Player of the Week nod along with being named to the SEC All-Tournament Team. Molder posted a 12-5 record, going a team-best 9-2 across conference action.
