News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
The Texas A&M men’s basketball team never trailed in Saturday’s 92-77 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs inside Stegeman Coliseum.
With the game tied just once at 2-2, the Aggies (17-4) used a balanced attack to lead the contest for 39:31. The Maroon & White won for the 10th time in the last 11 games to stay atop the SEC standings with a 7-1 record.
Texas A&M had five players score in double digits for the 10th time this season. Rashaun Agee put in another All-SEC-type performance leading all players on the court with 18 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists.
Marcus Hill and Ali Dibba each had 15 points. Hill did damage on the inside, converting 7-of-9 (77.8%) from the field while Dibba knocked down 3-of-4 (75.0%) from triple town. Rubén Dominguez scored 13 and Pop Isaacs added 11 points and six rebounds.
The Aggies raced out to a 22-2 lead at the 15:17 mark capped by Isaacs draining back-to-back 3-pointers coming out of the first media timeout. The Maroon & White defense was smothering in the run, holding Georgia (16-6, 4-5 SEC) to 1-of-10 shooting from the field.
The Bulldogs slowly reeled the Aggies back in, eventually cutting the deficit to 44-41 with 2:31 remaining, but Ol’ Sarge’s charges scored the last seven points of the half to take a 51-41 advantage into the intermission. Isaacs paced the Maroon & White with 11 points in the opening act.
Georgia fought again to draw within two points at 69-67 with nine minutes remaining in the contest, but Texas A&M answered with another run. A 15-3 surge including two buckets by Dibba from bonus land inflated the Aggies’ cushion to 84-70 with 5:14 left.
Texas A&M made 6-of-6 from the charity stripe in the last 90 seconds to keep Georgia at bay. The Aggies hit 19-of-20 (95.0%) from the free-throw line to make over 90-percent for the third consecutive game.
