News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
The Texas A&M men’s basketball team hosts Stanford on Wednesday, Dec. 2 as part of the 2026 SEC-ACC Challenge slate, ESPN announced Friday morning. The game’s tip time and TV designation will be announced at a later date.
The matchup marks the second all-time meeting between the Aggies and Cardinal. The only previous meeting took place in San Francisco during the 1949-50 season when Stanford took home a 55-49 win. The Aggies are 2-1 in the SEC-ACC Challenge after topping Pitt, 81-73, on the road last year.
In their first season under head coach Bucky McMillan, the Aggies notched a 22-12 overall record for their fifth consecutive 20-win season and finished fourth in the SEC with an 11-7 mark in league play. Texas A&M capped off the year with its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, falling to Houston in the second round. The Maroon & White set nine single-season team records, while ranking among the top-20 nationally in scoring offense (86.1), 3’s per game (10.6), assists per game (17.8) and bench points (34.9).
Stanford is led by Kyle Smith, who guided the Cardinal to a 20-13 overall record in 2025-26, including a 9-9 mark in the ACC. Stanford closed out its season with an overtime loss to West Virginia in the College Basketball Crown.
