Aggie hoops coming home this week

The A&M men’s basketball team is working its way out of the also-receiving-votes group with the aim of the top 25 after going 5-1 with one win over a ranked team so far this season.

The Aggies lost to unranked Boston College but beat 21st ranked Temple in the Old Spice Classic over the Thanksgiving weekend. They got 6 votes in the latest AP Poll. Duke leads the list, followed by Ohio State, Pitt, Kansas and Kansas State. Other Big 12 teams ranked are undefeated Missouri 9th and Baylor 11th and once-beatten Texas 19th.

The Aggies play their next four at home with SFA at Reed Thursday, Pacific Saturday, then Pacific and Washington next week.

The Aggie women’s team went 2-0 in Cancun with wins over unranked Arizona and Michigan and that earned them a one-spot bump in the AP poll as they go from 8th to 7th at 5-0. A&M is one 6 ranked teams. Baylor is still second to UConn; Oklahoma 11th, Texas 17th, Iowa State 19th and Nebraska 24th.

The Aggies host Cal Saturday at 11 and then head to Durham next Monday to battle 5th ranked Duke in the Jimmy V Women’s Classic.
