Aggie Baseball Hosts Oakland for Three-Game Set

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

No. 22 Texas A&M welcomes Oakland to Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park for its final non-conference weekend series, starting with a doubleheader Friday. Game one is slated for 2 p.m., while game two will be played at 6 p.m., or 45 minutes following the first game if it runs long. The series finale is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Each game will be broadcast on SEC Network+ and may be heard locally on 1150 AM/93.7 FM The Zone. Fans may follow along through live stats or on X, @AggieBaseball.

Friday’s opener marks the first all-time meeting between the two clubs. The Aggies are 2-0 this season against first-time opponents after delivering wins over Tennessee Tech and Virginia Tech.

Texas A&M will run out the same starting pitching trio of Shane Sdao in game one, Weston Moss in game two and Aiden Sims in Saturday’s finale. At the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington, Sdao earned his second win of the season after tossing six shutout innings and recording five strikeouts. Nationally, Texas A&M ranks first in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.53) and walks allowed per nine innings (1.73).

The Maroon and White are 11-1 to start the season, following a 3-1 slate last week. The Aggies dropped their first contest of the year to No. 1 UCLA in Arlington, but topped Virginia Tech and Arizona State to complete a winning weekend.

In Tuesday’s midweek with UIW, Jake Duer went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI, two walks and knocked his third home run of the season. The senior outfielder is riding a seven-game hit streak and has reached base safely in all 12 games. He leads all Aggie hitters with a .432 batting average, 19 hits and seven multi-hit performances.

Offensively, Texas A&M ranks sixth in the country in slugging percentage (.599), eighth in on base percentage (.473) and ranks inside the top 15 in batting average (.340) and home runs (23).
