Aggie Baseball Falls to Auburn in SEC Tournament

News release from Texas A&M Athletics: 

No. 10-ranked Texas A&M dropped its opening game in the SEC Tournament to No. 6 seed Auburn, 7-0, Friday evening at the Hoover Met in Hoover, Alabama,

The Maroon & White (39-14) fell behind early as the Tigers (38-18) opened the scoring in the first behind an RBI double. Auburn extended its lead to 5-0 in the second behind five hits, including a leadoff homer and a two-RBI double.

The Aggies held the Auburn bats in check until two consecutive doubles allowed the Tigers to plate a run in the sixth. The opposition tacked on a solo homer in the seventh to cap the scoring at 7-0.

Ethan Darden (4-3) was charged with the loss after allowing four runs in 1.0 inning pitched as the starter. Gavin Lyons tossed 4.0 innings of relief, allowing one earned run while striking out five. Shane Sdao, Weston Moss and Clayton Freshcorn made appearances out of the bullpen to combine for the final 4.0 innings. Sdao punched out three while Moss fanned one. Freshcorn tossed a clean eighth inning, inducing three flyouts.
