College Station motorists were caught in a longer traffic snag than usual Thursday afternoon at Texas Avenue and Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
Assistant City Engineer Troy Rother explained one of the yellow left-turn lights stopped functioning.
That meant the signal would have gone straight from green to red had the system not defaulted to blinking red until repairs can be made.
If it was a bulb issue, then crews had to get into the intersection and interrupt traffic flow.
If it was a wiring issue, repairs most likely could have been done without getting crews in the street.
Signal problems combined with westbound traffic down to one lane due to construction of the hike/bike trail to cause longer than usual delays.
