A New Scam Hitting Electric Utility Customers

Another round of scammers are threatening to turn off your power.

BTU’s Meagan Brown says the new scam to residential and commercial customers demands immediate payment of $1,700 dollars.

The scammers tell customers they need to upgrade their meters because they are not compatible.

Brown says there have been no orders.

And BTU is among utilities that does not call and demand payments.

Anyone with questions can call the customer service number of their power provider.
