Bryan police officers and fire inspectors with a search warrant to inspect a home find a five year old girl who was inside by herself.

According to a BPD arrest report, the child’s cell phone was used to call the father, who said he was at work in Corpus Christi.

The father then called the child’s mother, who came home from work. She told police she let the child stay home from school because she had a stomach ache.

The home had windows that could not be opened or were boarded up, there were no smoke detectors, and a sliding glass door was blocked by a sofa.

Child and protective services took custody of the youngster.

The mother, 33 year old Nilda Andino, is out of jail after posting a $5,000 dollar bond following her arrest on a child abandonment charge.
