Texas Transportation Commission Awards Bids on Two Area Projects

The Texas Transportation Commission awarded bids Thursday to 15 more projects funded from the recently passed Proposition 1 constitutional amendment.

Two of the projects are in the TxDOT Bryan district.

One is the continued relocation of Earl Rudder Freeway on and off ramps. The commission awarded a $7.5 million dollar contract that affects entrance and exit ramps in Bryan between Highway 21 and FM 158. TxDOT expects construction will start early next year and take 15 months to complete.

The other is improving Highway 30 in Walker County, from FM 1791 to the Grimes County line. TxDOT expects the $16.6 million dollar project, which includes passing lanes, will start early next year and take 14 months to complete.

Outside the Bryan district but of interest to commuters to and from Houston, other projects awarded Thursday includes more than $60 million to improve Highway 290 in Harris County.
