SKYWARN Training

Learn how to identify severe local storms and help keep your community safe by becoming a SKYWARN spotter.

To obtain critical weather information, NOAA’s National Weather Service established SKYWARN with partner organizations.

SKYWARN training teaches volunteers how to spot, identify and report severe weather creating the first line of defense against storms in their communities.

Training covers:

  • Basics of thunderstorm development
  • Fundamentals of storm structure
  • Identifying potential severe weather features
  • Information to report
  • How to report information
  • Basic severe weather safety

Two classes are available on Thursday, April 16 at Community Emergency Operations Center, 110 N. Main Street, Ste. 100, Bryan, TX, 77803:

  • 1:30 – 4:00 p.m.
  • 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
