CONROE, Texas (AP) _ The last fire has been put out at a Houston-area campsite that’s served Boy Scouts for decades.
KHOU-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1D5ZDGs ) that Camp Strake near Conroe has been purchased by a company planning to replace the site’s forests and activity sites with a new residential and commercial development.
Camp Strake served its last Scouts Tuesday night.
Camp Director Bobby Warren tells the television station that the Scouts are moving to a new site further away from the buildings fast cropping up near Camp Strake, in the middle of Houston’s sprawling north suburbs.
