UPDATE: Man Hospitalized After He Was Struck By A Train

Thursday evening update that includes corrected time of incident:

A 19-year-old man remains hospitalized after he was hit by a train in College Station Wednesday night shortly before 11 p.m.

Union Pacific officials say the man, whose identity has not been released, report his injuries are no longer considered to be life threatening. No one on the train was hurt.

College Station police say the man was walking his bicycle across the tracks in the area of University and Wellborn when the southbound train approached and the man was not able to get away in time.

The man was pinned on the tracks as the train came to a stop. He was found under the train conscious and breathing.

From a CSPD news release, “There are no indications of any foul play and all evidence at this time leads investigators to believe that this was an accident.”

UP says train traffic was stopped for about three hours before the scene was cleared shortly about 2:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

A 19-year-old man is hospitalized in critical but stable condition after he was hit by a train Wednesday night.

College Station police report this happened on the tracks along Wellborn near University shortly before 9 p.m.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was found under the train conscious and breathing.
