No. 5 Women’s Basketball Improves to 9-0

FORT WORTH, Texas- The No. 5 Texas A&M women’s basketball team improved to 9-0 for just the second time in school history, and first time since 2008-09, with a 82-71 win over TCU in the University Recreation Center.

The Aggies (9-0) started the game on a 10-0 run, going up double digits in the first 4:36 of the game. The Horned Frogs (4-3) never got any closer than five points for the rest of the period as the Aggies took a 31-21 lead to the break.

A&M went on a 7-0 run after the break, taking a 17-point lead early in the second half. The Aggies never let the Horned Frogs any closer than eight points for the remainder of the game.

Courtney Walker led the Aggies with 21 points, reaching double figures for the 22nd straight game, which includes every game this season. Walker has scored 20+ points in three games this season.

Courtney Williams had her first double-double of the season, and third of her career, with 12 points and a career-high-tying 12 rebounds. She has scored in double figures in three games this season.

Jordan Jones also reached double figures in scoring for the sixth time this season and 14th time in her career with 13 points.

Ft. Worth native Chelsea Jennings matched a career-high in rebounds (8) and made her first start of the season, playing in front of a sold-out crowd of 1,350 in her hometown. Jennings also added four points and three steals.

The Aggies return to action on Tuesday, December 9 at 7 p.m. at SMU. A&M returns to Reed Arena at 1:30 p.m. on December 13 to host Houston.
