The Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture at Texas A&M University named Dr. Elsa Murano the permanent director earlier this month.
Dr. Murano has been the interim director since June 2012.
“I am happy to be doing this and serving the Aggie community and serving people around the world and carrying this legacy of Dr. Borlaug that is so important,” she said.
The Borlaug Institute is an entity of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Texas A&M AgriLife Research, and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
According to its website, the institute designs and implements science based development programs that guide the phases of agricultural industry from production to consumption to fight hunger and poverty among small holder agricultural communities of the developing world.
