Bryan Council Slows Annexation Process

The Bryan City Council voted Tuesday night to slow down their proposed annexation.

A group of about 25 residents from the Enchanted Oaks subdivision came to the meeting to express their concerns regarding the plan.

One homeowner who spoke to council, Herb Gersbach, says his property is so far away from Bryan proper that annexation doesn’t make sense.

Council voted to direct city staff to stop work on the annexation proposal until further notice.

Mayor Mark Conlee says the issue is more than any one specific subdivision.

According to Conlee the purpose of annexation is to control growth and make sure areas that will be a part of Bryan in the future are developed in line with city standards.

Conlee says it’s hard to give a timeline for when the annexation process might move forward.
