Maid Accused of Taking Jewelry & Arrest in CS C-Store Burglary

Stealing from rich people because they would never miss it, was the explanation given by a Bryan woman to taking $3,400 dollars of jewelry from a College Station home last September. According to the arrest report, 21 year old Allison Marquez-Guthrie was caught by the homeowner and confessed to him and to police. Guthrie, who was working as a maid, took seven items from throughout the house but stored the jewelry under the master bedroom sink because she had no pockets or any other way to hide the items. Guthrie, who was arrested Monday night, was released from jail in January of last year after serving time for drug possession.

College Station Police also report an arrest has been made from a convenience store burglary that took place June 7th. Police used surveillance video that showed how the suspect shattered the front glass door at the Chevron at Victoria and Graham, then drove away after the alarm sounded. Vehicle information from the video led investigators to 18 year old Cord Smith, who according to the arrest report confessed to what happened. Nothing was taken.
