A Parks and Wildlife officer checking an area noted for illegal shooting arrested a College Station man with more than 500 rounds of ammunition. This was Saturday afternoon southwest of College Station near the Brazos River along Batts Ferry Road. According to the arrest report, the officer reported a SUV running a stop sign. That led in a two and ahalf mile chase at speeds up to 90 miles per hour on the gravel road. After the SUV stopped, the driver said he ran because he had a felony record and he was heading to the river to fire his Glock handgun. 31 year old Paul Lawson was arrested for a felon in possession of a firearm, driving with an invalid license, and evading arrest. Taken into evidence according to the arrest report was 494 rounds of 40 caliber ammunition, 26 rounds of 223 caliber, three rounds of 380’s, various types of other ammo, and shooting gear that included five magazines, one of them fitting an AR-15 rifle.
Big bonds were set for a Caldwell man accused of forging a check, credit card abuse, and trying to run away from a Brazos County deputy constable. 21 year old Christopher Kazmir is jail in lieu of bonds totaling $60,000 dollars. Two deputies responded to a call Friday afternoon from an employee of the Check N Go on Villa Maria of someone suspected of passing forged checks. According to the arrest report from Bryan police, Kazmir had numerous checks belonging to a local man who is currently out of state in
Army basic training.
