More than three years ago, a disturbance in north Bryan included a car running over a 16 month old girl.
There will be a retrial of a Bryan woman accused of jerking the steering wheel to make the car head into the crowd.
That’s after the first jury, after more than seven hours of deliberations on Thursday, deadlocked on a 10-2 vote to find 43 year old Vanessa Walker of Bryan not guilty of injuring the child.
Walker’s daughter was driving the car when it jumped the curb on MLK near Military in March 2011.
24 year old Princess Walker is currently in the third year of six years probation from a ten year prison sentence. That’s after she pleaded guilty to failing to stop and give information.
The daughter testified during her mother’s trial, along with witnesses who were apparently not associated with anyone involved in the disturbance, who heard the daughter admit to running over the toddler and that she would do it again.
Prosecutors say the victim, now four years old, still has some impairments and problems. She broke her femur, her clavicle, and shoulder blade from being hit by the car.
