After three years, Brazos Valley is officially out of the drought.
State Climatologist and A&M professor John Nielsen-Gammon says in 2013, Easterwood Airport measured 39 inches of rain, which is only half an inch under the average.
Nielsen-Gammon says for the first time since December of 2010, less than half of Texas is in drought, with the Brazos Valley pretty much caught up.
He says only a few pockets in the Brazos valley still have issues, including the area west of Brenham and Lake Somerville.
Nielsen-Gammon says he feels hopeful about the new year, and thinks a possible El Nino next winter could continue to help Texas receive rain and cooler weather.
