St. Joseph has been selected as a finalist for a LIVESTRONG FOUNDATION grant, but we need the Brazos Valley’s help to win.

Winners are determined by online votes. We’re competing against facilities in Denver, DFW and Oklahoma. St. Joseph is asking Aggieland to vote, then tell friends, neighbors, co-workers and family to vote too. Help us spread the word!

1) Go to www.vote.livestrong.org
2) Click on Texas
3) Select the Palliative Care Program
4) Pick St. Joseph Regional Health Center

The $10,000 grant will go towards our Palliative Care program. Palliative Care is care for people with serious illnesses, like cancer and advanced heart disease. Our Palliative Care program is a multidisciplinary approach that seeks to guide patients through their illness, connect them with community resources and help them reduce hospital readmission. Patients in our Palliative Care program are checked on weekly and each case is reviewed weekly by a doctor, nurse, chaplain and social worker.

In naming us as a finalist, LIVESTRONG FOUNDATION has affirmed the quality of the program already in place at St. Joseph. The grant would help our program seek an advanced certification from the Joint Commission. Joint Commission Accreditation means we follow the best-practice standards and patients who need it the most, benefit from our exceptional, compassionate care.

Voting ends next Thursday, March 28. Internet history may have to be cleared to vote more than once from the same computer.
