Two single engine planes made emergency landings at Easterwood Airport during a five minute span Friday morning.
Director of Aviation John Happ complemented the pilots bringing down their planes, one without a right landing gear and the other missing a windshield.
The Department of Public Safety reports the planes came in contact with each other nine miles south of College Station.
According to the investigating trooper, the right landing gear of a Cessna 152 flown by instructional pilot Howard Seidel of College Station and student Amy McDonnel of Bryan was struck by the windshield of a Cirrus SR-22 piloted by Adam Hahn of Austin.
No one was injured.
Hahn was flying to Easterwood and the other plane, owned by the A&M Flying Club, was practicing manuevers at the time of the contact.
The investigator also learned Hahn was notified by air traffic control of Seidel’s location, Hahn acknowledged, then Hahn flew under Seidel.
John Happ visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
