Randy Travis Pleads Guilty to DWI

SHERMAN, Texas (AP) _ Randy Travis has pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in a case that began last summer when the naked country music star crashed his Pontiac Trans Am.

Travis received two years of probation, was fined $2,000 and must spend at least 30 days at an alcohol treatment facility.

He entered the plea Thursday in a North Texas court. The misdemeanor was punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Authorities say a Trans Am registered to Travis veered off a road in August near Tioga, a town about 60 miles north of Dallas where the 53-year-old singer lives. The car struck several construction-zone barricades.

Investigators say Travis was naked and belligerent and had a blood alcohol level of 0.21. The legal limit for driving is 0.08.
